First Advent, First Star Market — and 355 Euros for the Erlöserkirche

Some ideas carry far because a single person carries them. Our star and biscuit market on the first Advent last year was such an idea — initiated and driven forward with great personal commitment by Eva Riks.

The market took place in the parish hall, before and after the service in the Erlöserkirche. On that Sunday the parish council elections were also being held in the Luther Room — and so many visitors found their way to our stall as well.

Behind the scenes, the baking kitchens had been buzzing in the days before. Eva Riks and Johanna Knorr stood at the oven; Eva Riks also produced all the stars in all their shapes herself. At the stall, Rosi Hänel, Hannelore Röhm and Johanna Knorr made sure that stars, biscuits and good conversation were always within reach.

The result: 355 euros in donations. A lovely figure — above all because it is made up of many small encounters. Of a conversation between the church and the Luther Room. Of a biscuit passed across the table. Of a star that found its place on a window or a fir branch.

Heartfelt thanks to everyone who baked, helped and contributed. It was a first market. What becomes of it, we will write together.
