The Erlöserkirche · Brandenburger Vorstadt
Golden ornaments on the ceiling, angels on the arches, light falling through stained-glass windows. Anyone who steps inside understands at once what this is all about.
Since 1898, the Erlöserkirche (Church of the Redeemer) has been the landmark of the Brandenburger Vorstadt – a neo-Gothic brick building whose interior has been recovered layer by layer over decades. What the restorers uncover is not museum splendour but craftsmanship you can touch: floral ornaments, golden stars, finely painted arches.
These very details are the reason people are committed to preserving it. See for yourself.
